Besides the start of playoffs for local baseball and softball (see Saturday's post), other local spring athletes are winding down the school year with their post-seasons:
Golf:
The Sac-Joaquin Section's Masters' Tournament will be Monday at the Reserve in Stockton. None of our local teams qualified, but Pleasant Grove's Michael Grenz and Elk Grove's Connor Scott will compete individually for a spot in the State Tournament next weekend.
Girls' Soccer:
Tuesday in the Section quarterfinals, Franklin will host Vintage.
Boys' Volleyball:
All local teams have been knocked out of the playoffs.
Track and Field:
Quite a number of locals made the Division I meet which begins Tuesday at Elk Grove High School. As a team, Monterey Trail looks to be the strongest, especially on the girls' side. But, Davis has a very strong boys' and girls' squad, especially in the longer runs and in the field events. Finals in all events will be Thursday.
