Pleasant Grove basketball player Dejza James has given a
verbal commitment to play her college basketball at Arizona, according to
Surewest Sports’ Mike Finnerty.
James, a six-foot forward, averaged 13 points and
nine-and-a-half rebounds a game in leading the Eagles to the Delta River League
championship last season.
“She worked hard to put herself in position to play at the
highest level,” James’ AAU coach, Michele Massari, told Finnerty. “She’s a
terrific scorer and rebounder whose skill set is versatile and she does all the
little things needed to win games.”
Massari coaches the Cal Sparks during the summer and is the
girls’ basketball coach at Sacramento High School, as well. …
Two local athletes qualified for a place on the AAU USA Jr.
National Taekwondo team. Alex Colley, a senior at Pleasant Grove High School, went
undefeated at the team trials. Sarah Hilaman of Acampo also made the national
team.
