Elk Grove is blessed with several quality, well-kept golf courses. None of them, though, is better maintained than Valley Hi Country Club.
Apparently, one or possibly more people don't seem to honor finely landscaped golf layouts such as Valley Hi's.
The country club's manager, Jim Davis, said he got a phone call early Saturday morning that vandals badly damaged four greens, six tee-boxes and stole six flagpoles from the course.
"My jaw dropped to the ground," Davis remarked after viewing the extensive damage. "I've never seen anything like this."
In fact, Valley Hi is now offering a $2,500 reward to anyone that can give information that would lead to the arrest of the person or people responsible for the vandalism.
"Where I am coming from, this is a hard-core, malicous act," Davis added.
Davis said at least two different types of shovels were used in digging large, deep holes on the greens and tee-boxes.
He didn't know exactly how much the cost would be in fixing all the damage but claimed he would likely have to pay at least six thousand dollars in additional labor alone to fully repair all the greens and tee boxes.
If you know anything about this vandalism, Davis asks you phone 916-684-2120. You may remain anonymous.
