Team owner Chip Ganassi is mentoring Larson and helped him
sign a deal where he would drive the No. 32 Chevrolet car of Turner Scott
Motorsports.
The past couple years Larson, a graduate of Pleasant Grove
High School, has been driving midget cars, sprints and open-wheel cars with
success. In 2012, he drove stock cars
for the first time and won the championship in the K&N Pro Series East.
Larson, a Japanese-American, is also the first titlist in
NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity program.
He told the Los Angeles Times, “moving up to the Nationwide
series is truly one of the happiest days of my life.” His goal is to “win at
least a race or two.” The season opens Feb. 23 at Daytona International
Speedway.
