The team, nicknamed the “Laguna Bandits,” is essentially the
same group that took third place in the Cal Ripken World Series as
ten-year-olds two years ago. The squad has won the state tournament in its age
group five years in a row and has also taken the regional title three times.
The Bandits’ regional tournament will begin July 21.
Elk Grove Youth Baseball’s Age 11-and-under Gold team won
its NorCal Tournament last week. That event was held at Rau Park.
The squad will advance to its regional tournament in
Panguich, Utah, starting July 22. To help offset costs, the team will hold a
car wash outside of Nor-Cal Fit on Elk Grove Blvd. Saturday and again on July
20 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
They are also selling a spot on a sponsorship shirt that players
will wear around town. Cost for one spot on the shirt is $200.
