Bradshaw Christian's football team has forfeited their opening week
win over Big Valley Christian for playing an ineligible player.
The
Pride won the game on the scoreboard, 61-6, but one of their top
defenders shouldn't have been in uniform. He had 14
tackles and a sack in the game.
He played last season
at an Elk Grove Unified School. The player should have been
serving what CIF calls the "30-day sit-out period." Athletes who
transfer from one school to another and they played a varsity sport at
the first school, cannot participate in his new school's games until 30
days of the regular season had expired.
The exception
to this rule is if the athlete's family changes residences. Then the
athlete could participate right away in his new school's varsity sport.
There has been no comment from anyone at Bradshaw.
