The area girls’ golf teams are nearing their post-season
with just about two more weeks of matches and duals before the Sac-Joaquin
Section’s Division I Match Oct. 26 at Silverado Country Club in Napa.
The Delta League teams met up Monday for the second of its
three 18-hole “Center Matches” with St. Francis winning the team score by 25
shots. The Troubies fired a combined 411 while Pleasant Grove finished second
with 436 strokes.
Kendall Doty and Brie Sheehy each had an 85 today at Wildhawk Golf Club to top the
Eagles’ golfers.
Courtney Cervellin of Franklin placed third on the medalist
scorecard with a 78 followed by Jillian Knox of Elk Grove with an 80.
Marie Dean of Davis fired a four-under-par 68 for medalist
honors Monday.
There will be one more Center Match on Oct. 19 and from
there the top three Delta League squads from the stroke total of all Center
Matches will advance the entire team to Napa on the 26th. The top
seven individual golfers not a part of those three teams will also compete in
the Section Division I match.
In dual matches, Pleasant Grove defeated Davis on Oct. 6,
234-254, in a nine-hole event at Rancho Murieta Country Club’s North course.
That day Dean fired a 38 to lead all golfers while Emily
Avila led Pleasant Grove with a 43. Kendall Doty fired a 44.
